Vung Tau - Con Dao

Tai Island

Bay Canh Island
Bay Canh island is the second largest island among the 16 islands of the Con Dao Archipelago, where a large number of sea turtles climb to lay eggs. The whole island is covered by the primitive tropical forest, the fauna and flora are very rich. Come to Bay Canh Island, tourists can discover the mangrove ecosystem and do scuba diving. The corals here are very diverse including several species listed in the Vietnam Red Book. The boat trip from Con Dao Island to Bay Canh Island lasts about 1 hour.
Cau Island
Cau island is a famous site because it was an ancient village under the reign of King Gia Long. Cau Island is the only place of the Con Dao Archipelago that has the underground water source. It is also an important place for the conservation of rare wild species such as the sea turtle, the salangane. Come to Cau Island, visitors can discover interesting ecosystems and enjoy pristine landscapes.
Tre island
If you want to see the corals, the Tre island is the most ideal place, as there are abundant coral species here. Arriving at the Tre island, you will see the sandy ground where the turtles lay their eggs, relax or bathe.
Dam Tre Bay
The Dam Tre Bay is located to the northeast of the Con Son island - the largest island and the center of the Con Dao archipelago. Dam Trau is the most beautiful beach of Con Son island. The sea is blue and transparent more than anywhere else. Here, tourists can also do scuba diving.
Climate
Con Dao has two distinct seasons: the rainy season, from May to November, it is the hottest in May. The dry season from December to April of the following year. The temperatures are rather mild, the average annual temperature is 27oC, the highest is 34oC in May.
The best time to visit Con Dao island: between March and September - the rainy season, yet the rains of Con Dao last only one hour. The important thing, in this period the sea is calm, favorable for swimming, scuba diving or cruising...
How to get there
The Con Dao archipelago is 97 nautical miles (180 km) from the Vung Tau city. There are 2 ways to go to Con Dao: by sea and by air.
- By sea, the boat departs at 5:00 pm from the Cat Lo port - Vung Tau city, arriving at Ben Dam port (Con Dao) at 5:00 am the next morning. There are currently 2 boats: the Con Dao 9 boat and the Con Dao 10 boat with air-conditioned berths and chairs. The rate is between 150,000 - 200,000 VND / person. These boats operate only on days when there are good weather conditions.
- By air: from Saigon airport there are flights to Con Dao last 1 hour. You can also leave from Can Tho airport, the flight takes 50 minutes.
