Da Lat

The city of Da Lat is located on the Lam Vien Plateau, in the southern parts of the Central Highlands, and is surrounded by lovely mountains. The city is 1500m above sea level and its relief divided into 3 main levels: high mountain, small hill and valley.
Da Lat enjoys a temperate climate; it is pleasant all year round with an average temperature of 18°C. The city’s temperate weather stands in contrast to Vietnam’s otherwise tropical climate. With this climate, Da Lat is the favorable area for flower cultivation, as well as variety of kinds of fruit and vegetable.
 
Thanks to its altitude and its ideal climate, Da Lat was known as a romantic city. It is the City of Flowers and honeymooners with lovely French villas, the fresh air, the beautiful waterfalls and gorgeous lakes sits in a lush and green valley of postcard beauty.  Mist covering the valleys almost year-round leads to its name “City of eternal spring”, Spring is eternal and “unique season” in Da Lat.

ATTRACTIVE SITES IN DA LAT

The Linh Son pagoda is located on top of a small hill. The pagoda was built from 1938 and it was completed and opened in 1940.  In the pagoda, there is a statue of Buddha sitting on a lotus flower made of bronze in 1952. It is 1.7m high and weighs 1,250 kg. It is also here that many future Buddhists are formed.

The residence of Bao Dai was built in 1933. It was there that the King Bao Dai, the last king of the Nguyen dynasty lived with his family. Visiting this structure, travelers will have a chance to discover the living of the royal family through 25 rooms and its amenities. The ground floor is the working place of the king. It consists of the office room, the guest room and the reception room. Upstairs is the living space of the king and his family.  The garden of flower in front of the palace is particularly carved and taken with the greatest care ... it is the place that will leave a very good impression on you.

Valley of Love is a beautiful and romantic site in Da Lat. This valley is beautiful and attractive by its small deep valleys and pine hills. One of the most beautiful places of the Valley of Love is Vong Canh Hill. There are two ways to go up the hill: walk along small paths or climb hundreds of steps. From there, the Valley of Love reveals itself beautifully as a living picture.
 
Xuan Huong Lake, formerly called the Large Lake, is a man-made lake built in 1919. Xuan Huong Lake lies charmingly at the very heart of Da Lat City. Around the lake there are many other architectural of great artistic value which are currently used in the service like hotels, palaces ... Nowadays, visitors can not only enjoy strolling along the lakeside but also resting under the conifers, pedal-boating on the lake while admiring the spectacular architecture of Thuy Ta Pavilion. Try the elegant swan boat ride, it's the best way to discover the beauty of the lake. Having a cup of coffee overlooking the lake is another suggestion. As a major attraction of Da Lat, the lake is a place for people from both inside and outside the city to meet and talk. 

 

Truc Lam Monastery is the largest monastery in Vietnam, was inaugurated in 1994 and is one of the largest Buddhist monuments after 1975. It is located next to Tuyen Lam Lake, connected to Da Lat city center by the system of cable car. With the beautiful landscapes, the pagoda is not only a place for meditation but also an ideal place for visiting.
 
Langbiang mountain (Lam Vien plateau) is located at the altitude of 2,163m, considered one of the highest mounts in Da Lat. This area is very suitable for sports activities such as mountain climbing, parachuting, trekking. Lang Biang is also an ideal place for exploring the nature, and the culture of ethnic minority groups living at the foot of the mountain.








Climate
With an altitude of 1,475m, Da Lat has a temperate climate, it is cool and pleasant all year round with an average annual temperature of 17.8ºC, the highest is in April (19.1ºC), the lowest is in December (15.7ºC). Therefore, Da Lat has four seasons in one day: spring in the morning, summer in the afternoon, autumn in the early evening, and winter at night. 
The dry season in Da Lat is from December to March of the following year, the rainy season is between April and November. During the dry season, the sky is always clear, pleasant temperature. This is also the ideal time for travel to Da Lat.
 
How to get to Da Lat
Da Lat is easily accessible. By bus, you can go to Da Lat from Saigon (300 km -7h), Buon Ma Thuot (150km - 4h), Nha Trang (140km - 4h) or Mui Ne (150km - 4h). By fly, you can fly to Da Lat from Hanoi (several flights a day), from Danang (early morning flight available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday) and from Saigon (several flights a day).
